LEGION SERVICE - PAT BUNSCH (Navy Veteran)

BUNSCH, Pat (Russell Herman) Passed away in his sleep on Saturday, November 27, 2010 in his 90th year, after enjoying many years with his wife Florence Eleanor (nee Hagen, 45 yrs) and their children Jim, Patricia, Susan and Mary; (then) with his wife Edna (Helm, 17 yrs) and her children Roger and Gary; with the children’s spouses and his 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and then with loving companion, Margaret (Midge) Baker. Pat was born in Kitchener of parents Norman and Salome Bunsch (nee Hass) and was so fond of his older brother Howard who died in his late 50’s. Pat graduated from KWC & VS (Tech), served as Chief Petty Officer in the Canadian Navy in WWII (protecting ships with men, women and supplies crossing the Atlantic Ocean enroute to the UK and Europe). Pat was an original founding member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a musician, career tradesman, Master Electrician, electrical contractor, locksmith and an avid golfer. He loved family, friends, music and playing music and cottaging in Honey Harbour ON and he instilled this love in his children. Thanks to his daughters and Midge, he lived in his own home until recently. Pat’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM with a Royal Canadian Legion Service, Branch 530, at 7 PM at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A funeral service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11 AM with a reception to follow. Rev. Marion Gils-McLeod officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. In lieu of flowers, donations to any charity recommended by Charity Intelligence Canada, (http://www.charityintelligence.ca) or The Alzheimers Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
